Symbiotic Relationships:  Muscles & Their Effect on Balance
This presentation focuses on symbiotic muscle relationships, what they are, how they can affect dysfunction & pain, how to use your current modalities & a NEW approach for specific treatment and how to evaluate symbiotic relationships to improve treatment planning. A brief review of the 4 Primary Righting Mechanisms (Vestibular, Ocular, Head-on-Neck Righting Mechanisms, and Proprioceptors in the Feet) will further understanding of the influence of these Righting Mechanisms have on posture & musculoskeletal pain. This class also includes a review of Major Posture-Related Muscles of the Neck (SCM, Upper Trapezius, and Muscles of the Sub-Occipital Triangle) and why dysfunction in these muscles is critical to function and balance.

About the presenter:
Florence ‘Flo’ Barber-Hancock, L.M.T., Ph.D specializes in neurosensory rehabilitation.  She has been an LMT in solo practice in Tampa, FL, since 1997.  Her therapeutic treatment is focused on pain relief, joint mobilization, and pediatric disorders.  Over the last 15 years, she has developed a new and unique cranial therapy – Facilitated Pathways InterventionSM  (FPI), the topic of her Ph.D. dissertation.  With her husband, Dr. Dallas Hancock, Flo has developed the CranioSomatic concepts and treatment approaches presented by their organization, Hancock CranioSomatic Institute.   She enjoys teaching and doing presentations in various settings.  She has taught her FPI therapy and other CranioSomatic techniques in several states and foreign countries over the last 24 years.
