Protecting Your Assets: Self-Defense for Massage Therapists
What skills are needed by healthcare professionals to handle verbal and physical abuse? Situational awareness, body language, and practical self-defense techniques will be discussed and demonstrated.

About the Presenter:
Teresa Matthews is a Board Certified, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, and National CE provider, with a BS in Health Sciences. For over 20 years, she has owned and operated a successful Massage School in Jacksonville, Florida. Today, she continues to teach advanced massage training, including Self-Defense for Massage Therapists, as well as her Certified Personal Training Program. Teresa also teaches Corporate Wellness Seminars. With over 30 years of experience in the fitness and bodywork industry, Teresa founded Health, Wellness & Fitness Professionals, Inc. Her practice brings optimal therapy to her clients by combining massage and personal training bodywork. She specializes in Kinesiology, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Strength Training, Stretching & Flexibility, Self-Care, and Self-Defense. Teresa continues serving her profession with FSMTA, AMTA, NCBTMB, and MTF has received many awards and recognitions including Sports Massage Therapist of the Year. Teresa is a 2018 Boston Marathon Finisher; she ran with Team Massage Therapy Foundation and raised $15,000 for Massage Therapy Research! And, Teresa has been inducted into the 2019 World Massage Therapy Hall of Fame!
