Jane's bio: Jane is a multi-award winning sports massage therapist and educator with over a decade’s worth of experience in her field. She works with multidisciplinary sports medicine teams across the country and internationally, including the AVP Professional Beach Volleyball Gold Tour, the US Open Golf Championships, Ironman events, and USA Track and Field Olympic Trials, Masters, and Outdoor Championships. After completing service as an interpreter in the United States Army, Jane studied massage therapy in Monterey, Carmel and San Francisco, California utilizing the GI Bill. She graduated with honors with an Associate of Science degree in Massage Therapy and immediately launched her own practice in Tampa, Florida. Jane’s focus became military athletes in Adaptive Sports Programs early into her practice after working with the wounded warrior athletes of Special Operations Command on MacDill Air Force Base. She has provided sports massage at the Department of Defense Warrior Games since 2015 working with all of the services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force) as well as with the international teams participating in the Games. She also works camps and trials for the services throughout the year. She counts working alongside good chiropractors, physical therapists, and athletic trainers as one of her favorite aspects of her job. Having recently completed a 2 week rotation at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid NY, Jane enjoyed a cordial and mutually educational experience working with the team in the Sports Medicine Clinic there. Jane mentors other massage therapists and encourages them to hone not just their personal skills, but also to garner more experience working with other health care practitioners for the most complete athlete care. She feels that cooperation and cross training amongst the health care disciplines is the future of athlete care. Among Jane’s most important mentors are sports massage therapist and educator, Michael McGillicuddy, clinical massage therapist and educator Chiyoko Ono, and Rolfer, massage therapist, and educator Art Riggs.
