Sports Massage for Performance Enhancement, Why everyone should be a Sports Massage Therapist
This class will give the attendee the opportunity to learn and practice different sports massage and stretching techniques to help improve performance in athletes. Participants will learn detail information about exercise physiology, sports biomechanics, stretching and performance, the effects of massage in athletics, sports related injuries and pathologies, as well as basic principles of the business of Sports Massage.

About the presenter:
David R. Gonzalez, MS, PTA, LMT, CSCS,holds a master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Performance Enhancement & Injury Prevention, and a post master certificate in Rehabilitation Sciences from California University of Pennsylvania. He also earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science with concentration in Cardiac Rehab & Strength & Conditioning from Florida International University. David also graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant and the Emergency Medical Technician program at Miami Dade College.
David is an Associate Professor Senior and Coordinator of the massage therapy program Miami Dade College. He is also the owner of the Institute of Functional Performance, a company dedicated to providing quality and professional services in the areas of Fitness, Massage & Bodywork and Physical Therapy. He also provides educational seminars and CEU classes for massage therapists and personal trainers. He is licensed as a physical therapist assistant and massage therapist in the state of Florida and has been a certified personal trainer for over 20 years. By combining his expertise, David has been able to maximize his practice by integrating the best of bodywork manipulations and exercise in order to help improve health, resulting in excellent quality of care to his patients and clients.
